Etymology
Räsänen reconstructs this root as *hārγï, which is then compared with Finnish paarma (“horsefly, gadfly”).
Chuvash and Kipchak languages at large seem to have adopted the compound *bạl *kūrtnï (“honey worm”) instead of *ārï.
