Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ārï (“wasp, bee”); cognate with Azerbaijani arı, Kazakh ара (ara), Kyrgyz аары (aarı), Turkmen ary, Tuvan ары (arı), Uyghur ھەرە (here) and Uzbek ari.
