Notes

  • This entry is designed to cover two co-occurring entities: an organization and a territory. The organization has e.g. state organs as its parts, whereas the territory has locations as its parts. This duality extends to administrative divisions. By contrast, WordNet has these two entities neatly separated. From a linguistic thesaurus perspective, having these two merged seems justifiable, and corresponds to how e.g. France is defined using a single sense and not two separate senses, one for the organization and another one for the territory. Wikidata seems overengineered.
  • Only sovereign countries are included, not constituent countries such as England.
