  1. (anatomy) greater omentum
    Synonym: (less common) 큰그물막 (keun'geumulmak)

Etymology 5

Clearly a compound of some sort. The first element is probably identical to the first element of 대가리 (daegari, head). The second element may be the same as the second syllable in 이마 (ima, forehead), especially given the dialectal variant 이망 (imang), or alternatively be a variant of the probably diminutive morpheme 맹이 (maeng'i) in 알맹이 (almaeng'i, kernel), 돌멩이 (dolmeng'i, pebble). Compare Jeju 데멩이 (demeng'i, head), which is obviously related.

Alternative forms

  • 데망 (demang) (alternative spelling)
