Movie critic of ,The Boondock Saints,
The Boondock Saints is sensational film, one of the most exciting I have recently seen. It was made by Troy Duffy in 1999 and it was his debut as a film director. The reason that makes film so interesting is original screenplay.
It tells a story of two Irish brothers living in Boston. Conner MacManus (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy MacManus (Norman Reedus) work in Boston's slaughterhouse. The are well educated and they know few languages but this simple work gives them much pleasure and realises their ambions. Unfortunately, one day in theirs favourite bar, there occure russian mobsters. But this time "they have met their match"...
After making their first "job", they guess that they are chosen by God as angels which should make order on the streets of Boston. They say "bad man is a dead man". Since this moment the action accelerates. On theirs way stands many dangerous gangsters. After some time they are chased by FBI agent - Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe). Their situation isn't already good as on the start...
Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus aren't persons from first sites of newspapers, but they are well known in film industry. They had very interesting and also demanding role. Despite the fact that the action is very fast, they caught directors minds and made fabulous characters. Nothing points at the end which is really surprising...
Jeff Danna's music makes proper spirit. Suming up, "The Boondock Saints" is worth to recommend. It keeps you in tension to the end. Actors plays is on high level and shows professional attitude to their work. They are very talented. The film bases on real facts and events in Boston in 1990, when two brothers decided to "clean" the city.
