Zbigniew Herbert was born on 29th October in 1924 in Lwow, Ukraine late Poland. His father was a bank manager. In 1956 he published his first volume of poetry “String of light”. In 1958 he started many travel by Europe. In 1962 he published wonderful essay “Barbarians in the garden”. In 1965 he gave “Austrian International Nikolaus Lenau Prize”. In 1970 he was visiting professor at Universities of Los Angeles. It was a success. In the late 1980s he adhered to “NSZZ Solidarność”. In 1986 he left in France, because he was oppress. For 1969 to 1991 he wrote his famous volume of poetries: “Inscription” ( 1969 ), Mr. Cogito ( 1974 ), “Elegy for the Departure” ( 1991 ). In 1992 he came back. He belief in freedom and heroism. He died on 28th in 1989 July in Warsaw. He was the most glorious polish acclaimed poet, dramatist and essayist.
