Background and Identification
Fashion accessories are used to accentuate the wearer's outfit. Traditional accessories include gloves, handbags, and umbrellas. Accessories include items of clothing that are used for embellishment or for functional purposes. For instance, a scarf could be used to keep the wearer warm in the winter, or it could simply be worn because it has a unique and colorful pattern. Some accessories, like handbags and umbrellas, serve primarily functional purposes but are often designed to have an aesthetic appeal. Accessories are commonly made of various fabrics (knitted fabric, polyester, cotton, etc.), leather, metal, plastic, and various other materials. If not directly attached to the user, they often include handles.
Common accessory repair needs include tears in fabric and broken zippers. Thankfully, these issues can usually be remedied by some sewing and zipper maintenance.
Accessories come in a range of structures and appearances. Most are designed to be taken with the user throughout the day. Most accessories are either worn by the user (i.e. a scarf) or carried by the user (i.e. a handbag or umbrella). Accessories are commonly designed to be lightweight and space-saving. Accessories in this category refer to fashion accessories, not device or electronic accessories (i.e. chargers, cases, keyboards, mice, speakers, etc.).
