Dear Sir/Madam
I am responding to your advertisement in Student Magazine which offers grants to young people to study abroad.
I am a Russian philology final year student at Jagielloński University in Krakau. As a student of the University I was given the opportunity to gain new experience abroad and took part in the student exchange program in Moscow. Moreover, I took part in several workshops and seminars in St. Petersburg which concerned the Eastern culture and it’s genesis.
My interests include a wide variety of the humanities, particularly Eastern literature and it’s evolution from antiquity until the present. Furthermore, I possess great knowledge of Eastern languages consisted of skills in translation, text interpretation, discourse analysis and intercultural communication. Apart from the matters mentioned above, I am interested in geographical and cultural aspects of Russia and boundary countries.
I am doing a thesis on the influence of Eastern literature upon the national consciousness of Russians in the early stage of romanticism, therefore the grant I am applying for might let me broaden my mind and consolidate the knowledge, resulting in having great and positive impact on my research.
I believe that my qualifications make me well suited to be given the opportunity of studying abroad. What is more, I am a very responsible, well-disciplined and hard-working student, therefore the grant will not be wasted.
Thank you for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
XYZ
