School

School is an institution which is connected with constraint and duty. Many students don’t like it. Some pupils think that school is boring and they only lose their spare time going there, others think that they must only learn and work hard, others have good fun there besides they have responsibilities.

My school was untypical, because it shared the school’s building with the secondary school. I used to go to District Grammar-school number 1, the only kind of such school in Poland. It is situated near the lake and about 5 minutes way from my home. I used to learn three years there.
Classes weren’t numerous, there were usually 27 students. Some teachers were strict and demanding but others were sometimes forgiving students’ mistakes and were easy-going. When we had some problems with understanding things we could always ask our teachers and they were explaining the unknown things. What’s more, our teachers were very friendly and we could ask them for help not only with school problems but private, too. In my school teachers kept discipline. We had many duties. Our behaviour was estimated by points. We could lose them when we didn’t do some of the things or we broke the rules and we could get the points for doing some things eg. water flowers, clean somethings etc. We weren’t allowed to be late for the classes. We had to wear a kind of an identification card with our name on it, change shoes etc. We had a special notebook where our teachers wrote good or bad notes about each of us. Later our form master counted it and gave us marks. We had many subjects but my favourite ones were history and English. I had the best marks from these subjects. Maybe the reason I like history is because of my parents who teach it and they tell me many interesting things connected with this subject . On the other hand I didn't like biology. I wasn’t interested in it and it bored me.

I think that my Grammar-school was the best in the whole world. There was a very good atmosphere in my school, I had many friends there, not only at my age but older, too. I had friendly and helpful teachers who always had time for unknown things and I could talk to them about everything. Now, when I visit my previous school I’m always welcomed well. One thing which I hated was discipline and I usually disobeyed it. I’m happy that I used to go to that school and I would never change my choice.
