Poznan is one of major cities of Poland. This city is situated on the river Warta. It is capital and the biggest city of Greater Poland. It has more than 550 thousands inhabitants. Poznan is the fifth of the largest cities in Poland.
Poznan is divided into five main districts: Grunwald, Jeżyce, Nowe Miasto, Stare Miasto and Wilda. In Poznan there is a lots of historic buildings. For example Poznan Town Hall, built in the late 13th century, rebuilt in renaissance style by Giovanni Battista di Quadro in 1550 – 1560. There are also old churches (Poznan Cathedral on Ostrow Tumski, Collegiate Church near Stary Rynek). In the Nort of the city there is a large park, Poznań Citadel which contains a military museum, military cemeteries, and the remains of some of the fortifications from world war II.
Poznan has a variable weather. Winters are usually mild, but in last winter temperature dropped to minus 20 degrees. Summers are usually hot, temperature reaches even 30 degrees. Rainfall is lower than in the rest of country. In Poznan there is also very windy.
Poznan has many attractions, so you can’t get bored there. There are lots of shopping malls, for example Poznań Plaza, Stary Browar and Galeria Malta. There is several interesting amusement parks, for example Niku Bowling Park. In Poznań there will be also the biggest water park in Poland. Construction is nearing completion and facility will be opened this year. Every Year there are also very interesting events in the Poznań International Fair.
