"Shakespeare in Love" movie review - recenzja flimu "Zakochany Shakespeare"

The title of the movie is "Shakespeare in Love". It's a romantic comedy directed by John Madden and written by Marc Norman and playwright Tom Stoppard. It was made in 1998 and it's 120 minutes long. The main roles are played by Joseph Fiennes (William Shakespeare) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Viola de Lesseps). In the movie also appear Geoffrey Rush, Judi Dench, Colin Firth, Ben Affleck, Tom Wilkinson and many others.
The movie tells a story of a forbidden love between William Shakespeare and Viola de Lesseps set in 1593. Will is a young and promising writer. He tells the theatre manager, Hanslowe (Geoffrey Rush), that he will write a play for him, called "Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter", but somehow he caught a writers block and it seems he can't find inspiration. But then he meets Viola. She is a high class lady who really wants tto become an actress. Unfortunatelly, since it's forbidden for women to act, Viola has to disguise herself as a young man, Thomas Kent, to audition for the role of Romeo in the yet unfinished play. After Shakespeare discovers her true identity they begin meeting secretly. Play becomes life and life becomes play. Will bases some of his play on the true events from his meetings with Viola and she becomes his main inspiration, but life isn't as carefree as it seems and there are many difficulties and obstacles in the way of their love.
The story of "Shakespeare in Love" is entirely fictional and only some characters are based on real life presons. There are also fragments quotes from "Romeo and Juliet" by real Shakespeare. The cast in the movie is very proffesional and highly natural. You see true, unforced emotion in their acting. The costumes by Sandy Powell are truly amazing and are responsiblee for the remarkable aesthetic of the film. Wonderful music by Stephen Warbeck was always adequate to the played scene and gave the movie a beautiful finishing touch.
To sum it all up, "Shakespeare in Love" is a film where you can both cry and laugh, so I think it will suit anyone's taste. It's so enchanting that no matter what you are looking for you will definitely like it. I really enjoyed the movie eeven though at first I tought it would be boring. I'm glad I watched it and I highly recommend it.
