Pauloe Coelho -Biografia

Paulo Coelho was born in 1947, in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, where he was rasied and where he attended a Jesuit school.
Paulo went to law school, but a year later, he dropped it out. He began travelling to different countries.
When he returned to Brasil, he found work as songwriter. He composed songs for Elis Regina, Rita Lee and Raul Siexas. In 1974 he was arrested by the government for subversive activity. He was released, however he continued his career and he was working as an actor, a journalist and even direct some theathires. Finally, he started to write his firs book "Hell Archives". It was published in 1982.
Paulo decided to leave song writing and go back to writing.
In 1987 his book "The Alchemist" was published. In the next year "Brida". Alchemist becom a bestseller. It was sold in move than 30 milions copies, and has been translated into move than 67 languages.
Paula has published 26 books to today. Other of his titles include "The fifth Mountain", "Veronica decided to die", "Eleven minutes", "The Witch of Portobello".
In 1996, Paulo founded "The Paulo Coelho Institute" in order to provide help to children and elderly.
Paulo and his wife have two houses, one in Europe and one in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2007, Paulo was named a "Messenger of Peace"by the United Nations.
