Cecilia Ahern has become popular lately thanks to the film "P.S. I love you" made on her book.
This movie triggered me to start reading "The gift", which I found lying on the windowstill of some second-hand shop.
The plot concentrates on the gift of time-the most precious present a man can get. The main character
is a typical example of a career maker , whose only desire is not to fall out of the rat race. For this he is willing to give up any other values. The constant confrontation of his family and his work brings more and more tension to the story. The choices which stand before him start a neverending battle between ill ambitinon and virtue....And this is when Gabe the beggar appears. The main hero suspects that Gabe may be his only hope. How can a simple beggar provoke such a confusion in the mind of a "big fish" with set goals and career prospects ? How far can this uneasy relationship change the way of thinking of the main character?
Page by page we get more and more involved in the battle of thoughts. Word by word we participate in the gradual transformation of the businessman, husband and father.
I wonder how many of you will devote time to read "The gift". I did. No regrets.
