  1. (noun-forming suffix) Added to a verb to form a noun denoting the result or means of action.
    ‎fest (“to paint”) + ‎-ék → ‎festék (“paint”)
    ‎játszik (“to play”) + ‎-ék → ‎játék (“toy, game”)
    ‎hasad (“to rip”) + ‎-ék → ‎hasadék (“fissure, rip”)

  1. (heterogeneous plural suffix) Added to a proper noun or sometimes a common noun to refer to a group of persons associated with somebody (e.g. a family, a circle of friends, etc.).
    Éviék mikor érkeznek? ― When will Évi and her lot (friends/family) arrive?
    Horváthék a második emeleten laknak. ― The Horváth family / Horváths live on the second floor.
