報道
Usage notes
報道/报道 (bàodào) and 報導/报导 (bàodǎo) have the same meaning and are pronounced the same way in various dialects. Some people recommend the usage of 報道/报道 (bàodào) and discourage the use of 報導/报导 (bàodǎo) to emphasize the principle of objectivity in journalism. 導/导 (dǎo) means "leading" and thus the latter is discouraged.
