From earlier بللو (bellü), from Proto-Turkic *bẹlgü-lig (manifest), a derivation of Proto-Turkic *bẹl- (to denote, to designate); cognate with Azerbaijani bəlli, Karakhanid بَلْكُلُكْ (belgülüg) and Kazakh белгілі (belgılı).
