Reconstruction notes

  • In Late Proto-Permic, the initial vowel started to vary, with Udmurt showing a reflex of initial *u-, and dialectal Komi showing *o-. Nevertheless, based on *ɔ̇tik, an original initial *ɔ̇- can be reconstructed.

Etymology

From *ɔ̇k- (one) + *-mis (lacking from ten). The first part is an unmetathesised continuation of Proto-Uralic *ükte.

Equivalent to Proto-Finnic *ükteksä (nine), itself also derived from *ükci (one).

Numeral

*ɔ̇kmis

  1. nine
