Etymology

From Middle Korean 에〮셔〮 (Yale: -éy-syé), equivalent to (-e) + (-seo). Compare 어서 (-eoseo), 면서 (-myeonseo). The second element is from the infinitive of the verb 이시다〮 (Yale: ìsìtá, “to be at”).
