Usage notes

This is one of a few everyday kanji with a five-mora reading, and one of only three nouns. The only other kanji with five-mora readings are 承 in the verb 承(うけたまわ)る (uketamawaru), 慮 in the verb 慮(おもんぱか)る (omonpakaru), 志(こころざし) (kokorozashi) and 詔(みことのり) (mikotonori) (also written as 勅(みことのり) (mikotonori)). No kanji in common use has a six- or more mora reading.
