Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀔𑀻𑀭 (khīra), from Sanskrit क्षीर (kṣīra), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *kṣiHrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *kšiHrám, possibly from the BMAC substrate.[1] Doublet of ક્ષીર (kṣīr) and શીર (śīr).
