Borrowed from Classical Persian جایگاه (jāygāh). جاگه (jâgah), from جا (), جای (jây, place) + گاه (-gâh, location suffix). Compare Old Deccani جاگاہ (jāgāh). Cognate with Marathi जागा (jāgā), Bengali জায়গা (jaẏga), Assamese জেগা (zega).
