Perhaps related to Czech moskva (raw bread), Slovak mozga (puddle), Polish Mozgawa, and more distantly Lithuanian mazgóti (to wash, rinse), Sanskrit मज्जति (májjati, to sink), Latin mergō (to dive).[1] Doublet of Моско́вия (Moskóvija).
