From Classical Mongolian ᠤᠷᠤᠭᠤ (-uruɣu), from Middle Mongol [Term?]. Cognate with Buryat руу (ruu); Kalmyk -ур (-ur), -һур (-ğur), -гур (-gur). Doublet of уруу (uruu).
