Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish والحاصل (velḥāṣıl),[1][2] from Arabic وَ (wa, and) + اَلْ (al-, the) + حَاصِل (ḥāṣil, outcome, bottom line, sum),[3] equivalent to ve + hasıl.
