From Proto-Albanian *ā̆ur(V)n, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁er-, close to Gothic 𐌰𐌿𐍂𐌰𐌷𐌾𐍉𐌽𐍃 (aurahjōns, “monuments, tombs”),[2] Old English ēar (“grave, earth”).
