1. to salt (to conserve food by sprinkling it with salt or by placing it into a saline solution)

   sālīta zivs ― salted fish

   sālīti sēnes, produkti ― salted mushrooms, groceries

   medījumu gaļas sālīšana nodrošina tās ilgu saglabāšanos ― the salting of game meat ensures its conservation
