1. Pashtun, a member of the Pashtun people

2. (genitive plural) Pashtun, relating to the Pashtun people, their language and culture

   puštunu kultūra ― Pashtun culture

   puštunu tautas ― the Pashtun people

   puštunu garīgais līderis Sajeds Ahmads Gailani ― Pashtun spiritual leader Sayed Ahmad Gailani

• The term puštuns is now preferred to afgānis, afgāniete as a more precise name for a member of the Pashtun people, since afgānis, afgāniete, like English Afghan, could in principle refer to a member of any of the ethnic groups from Afghanistan.
• The feminine form of puštuns, presumably puštuniete, is thus far unattested.
