Etymology
Variant of ndjerë, from Proto-Albanian *(a)jeri, identical to Ancient Greek ἦρι (êri, “early”), further related to Gothic 𐌰𐌹𐍂 (air), Old Norse ár), and Avestan 𐬀𐬌𐬌𐬀𐬭 (aiiar, “day”).[1]
