Inherited from Sanskrit मुष्टि (muṣṭí), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *muštís (“fist”). Cognate with Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (muṭṭhi), Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (muṭṭhi).
