From Malay maklumat, from Classical Malay معلومات (ma'lumat), from Arabic معلومات (maʕlūmāt), plural of مَعْلُوم (maʕlūm, known), passive participle of عَلِمَ (ʕalima, to know).[1] Doublet of maklum.
