mëkat

Albanian
Etymology
From Old Albanian kat (Buzuku), also attested as mkatë (Budi) and mpkat (Bogdani), from Latin peccātum (“sin, error, fault”).[1][2] The origin of the initial nasal is unclear, yet it could either reflect the native preposition më (“in, on, at”) (earlier mbë, ëmbë), or be from a learned influence via Latin peccātum. Phonological development of earliest form kat from *peccátu- > *pëkát > *pkát > kat.[3]
