From Proto-Bahnaric *kləw (“male, husband”). The Proto-Bahnaric root was probably contaminated by Proto-Bahnaric *klaːw (“penis, testes”) (< Proto-Mon-Khmer *klaaw (“male sexual organ”)) if not derived from it.
