jemandem Saures geben
German
Etymology
Literally, “to give someone the sour”. However, Saures is not related to sauer (“sour”), but a malapropism of Zores (“tsuris”), from Yiddish צרות (tsores), plural of צרה (tsore, “trouble, problem”), from Hebrew צָרָה (tsará, “trouble, tragedy, calamity”). Compare Dutch sores.
