Etymology

Exists in almost every Turkic language. Sometimes compared to Proto-Mongolic *kira- (to mince, cut small), Proto-Tungusic *kire- (to mince; to be broken off, break off; to gnaw), also Proto-Japonic *kiru (to cut).[1]
