Etymology
From Proto-Balto-Slavic *minˀkus (u-stem), from a k-extension of Proto-Indo-European *menH-. Equivalent to Proto-Balto-Slavic *minˀkas + *-ъkъ.
Baltic cognates include Lithuanian mìnkštas (“soft”), Latvian mîksts (“soft”).
