𑀡𑀸𑀫

Prakrit

Etymology

Inherited from Sanskrit नाम (nā́ma, name). The sense "bowing down" is from Proto-Indo-Aryan *Hnāma, from Proto-Indo-European *nem- (whence the Sanskrit root नम् (nam, to bow)) and the sense "indeed" is via Ashokan Prakrit 𑀦𑀫 (nama).
