Etymology
Inherited from Sanskrit चत्वारिंशत् (catvāriṃśat), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *ćatwārHśát, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čatwārHćát, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷetwr̥h₁ḱomt (“four-ten”). Cognate with Ancient Greek τετρώκοντα (tetrṓkonta), Latin quadrāgintā. Cognate with Pali cattālīsā, which also saw an early r > l shift.
