First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 맛나다〮 (Yale: màsnà-tá). From 맞— (mat-, “to meet; to receive”) + 나— (na-, “to come out”) + —다 (-da, declarative verbal ending).
