Old Japanese
Etymology
Literally “blue-green + (red) earth + [exclamatory particle] + [strengthening particle]”.
The first sense refers to 奈良坂, 平城坂 (Narasaka, hill-road north of the modern city of Nara) where its soil made for excellent paints and pigments were said to be extracted there.
