Sino-Tibetan (Schuessler, 2007). Cognate with Tibetan གླུ (glu), Mru [script needed] (klö, “song, melody”), Burmese ကျူး (kyu:, “to make melodious sounds”) (Löffler, 1966) & ကြိုး (krui:, “a genre of Burmese classical music”).
