From ἐφέλκῠσῐς (ephélkusis, “attraction”) + -τῐκός (-tikós), from ἐφέλκω (ephélkō, “I drag towards, I draw towards”), from ἐπί (epí, “upon”) + ἕλκω (hélkō, “I draw, I drag, I pull, I atrract”).
