From Middle Georgian ჭანდარი (č̣andari). The word was also attested in Bible of Bakar as ჭანდარი (č̣andari, plane tree), however the bible doesn't have an exact date. Of the same Iranian origin as Middle Armenian ճանդարի (čandari).
