Etymology
According to Klimov / Khalilov, an Iranian borrowing. Compare Persian رود (rud, “river, torrent”).
According to Ačaṙean, borrowed from the older form of Old Armenian առու (aṙu), before the addition of the prothetic ա- (a-)- to it.
