Etymology

From Middle Georgian თურინჯი (turinǯi). Ultimately from Arabic تُرُنْج (turunj, citron); see there for more. Compare also Middle Armenian թուրինջ (tʻurinǰ), Ottoman Turkish ترنجی (türünci) and Persian ترنج (toronj).[1][2]
