Etymology

According to Axvlediani, from Ossetian бодз (boʒ, goat). For the semantic shift he compares Russian ко́злы (kózly, sawhorse ← goat), бык (byk, abutment, pier ← bull).[1] Accepted by Androniḳašvili.[2]
