Etymology
From Old Khmer pēta pēna (“to annoy, to bother, to trouble; to menace, to threaten; etc”), from pēta, piata (“to press; to oppress”) + pēna, piana (“to abuse; to maltreat; to mistreat”), equivalent to Thai เบียด (bìiat) + เบียน (biian). Cognate with Modern Khmer បៀតបៀន (biətbiən).
