Borrowed from Classical Persian سستی (sustī). By surface analysis, सुस्त (sust, “lazy, idle”) + -ई (-ī). Cognate with Gujarati સુસ્તી (sustī), Marathi सुस्ती (sustī), Bengali সুস্তী (śusti), Punjabi ਸੁਸਤੀ (sustī), Sindhi سُستي (sustī).
