Etymology

From Proto-Indo-Aryan *wáźʰati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wáȷ́ʰati, from Proto-Indo-European *weǵʰ- (to bring, transport). Cognate with Latin vehō, Old English wegan (whence English weigh).
