Etymology

Literally means “provided with testicles”, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁en-h₃orǵʰi- (uncastrated, male (ram or buck)) and cognate with Ancient Greek ἔνορχις (énorkhis), ἐνόρχης (enórkhēs), ἔνορχος (énorkhos, uncastrated, with testicles; he-goat). For the constituents see յ- (y-), որձիք (orjikʻ).
