Unknown, sometimes compared with Chinese 麒麟 (qílín).

Found in Yuan-era Middle Mongol glossary as 克兒四 (克兒四 /⁠kers⁠/, “rhinoceros, unicorn”), but not present in modern languages other than Mongolian.
